Cissa sighed and dropped her quill beside her book. All this studying was starting to get to her. She needed a break from it. Yes, she knew it was an OWLs year and that she needed to do well, especially if she was going to convince her parents within the next year that her becoming a healer or mediwitch would be a good thing, but it was just so tiring, especially when she was studying Ancient Runes! She honestly didn’t give two hoots about the subject, it was rather pointless, but she had managed to let one of her few friends convince her to take the class with them; she rather regretted that decision now. She looked out the window and let out another sigh, oh! What she would give to be able to go flying right now! But she knew if her mother found out she would get a howler; young ladies do not go flying! She rolled her eyes; her mother’s rules were rather ridiculous in her opinion.
She sighed again and looked back down at the book she had been attempting to take notes from. She closed it and put it back in her bag, she had done quite enough studying for now. She quickly packed up the rest of her things, and then turned to see Archie come zooming to the common room window, and almost hit it, she winced a bit expecting to have to peel her owl off the window in a moment, but was rather surprised when he managed to not hit something (which was quite a rarity, the owl really was quite stupid). She opened the window and let the small owl perch on her hand. “Hello Archie, what do have here for me?” she asked giving him a small stroke and the back as her puffed up in content. She gently removed the letter from his leg and let him move up to her shoulder. She opened her letter and sighed when she saw it was from her mother. Of course she wanted to know about grades and wanted to know whether or not to expect her for the holidays. “Well, what do you think? Should we go home for Christmas?” she asked the owl, he just gave a small hoot and nipped her cheek affectionately. “ Alright, just let me write her a reply to let her know we’re coming, and then you can take this back to her, and when you get back I’ll have a treat for you.” She said, taking out a bit of parchment and a quill and jotting down a quick reply for her mother, and then handed it to her pet. “Alright boy, be careful, and come back soon.” She said smiling as he flew off.
