Welcome to another year at Hogwarts. Unfortunately, this year wont be nearly as peaceful as the ones your parents remember from school. In 1977, there is a war going on. Daily reports come in of deaths, but sometimes it’s the quieter things that are more frightening. The things that aren’t quite news-paper worthy. The quieter things, like the fact that both sides of the war are using the school as a recruiting ground. The war, now going after students who are just barely adults, and many who aren’t even that.
Of course, there are still good times to be had. Perhaps even more than normal, for the war effects everyone. For some, there is a sense of inevitability, trying to cram in as many good times as possible before dying. For others it’s more about trying to keep from falling into a depression. Trying to be cheerful. And for a small few, namely the Marauders, these good times have little to do with the war. It’s all about cementing their place as legends of Hogwarts. Making people laugh is just a great side effect.
And if that weren’t enough to keep everyone busy, it’s still a regular school year. For some that means preparing for OWL or NEWT exams. Trying to get a moment of peace, quiet, and relaxation in this place is impossible. You may as well try and catch the wind!
