Cassie Swope isn't anything special. To put it bluntly, she's a bastard, sent away to Hogwarts to escape the intricacies of her family. Her mother was a maid from the Phillipines was hired by a wealthy family. The master of a house took a liking to her and a few sweetly spoken words later, she was pregnant. Nine months and a screaming disagreement later, Cassie was born and the mistress of the house was furious upon finding out her husband was unfaithful and demand the child be killed. Her mother begged for mercy and she was allowed to place her in an orphanage. She was ignored by most of the possible families adopting, who were looking for children who looked like they were at least from some part of Germany. It wasn't until she was four years old, and a family visiting from England decided to adopt her. They had been trying to have another child for some time now, but were no longer able to produce children. After various misfortunes such as miscarriages, they decided they would adopt. They were just wanting of a child, a daughter to her luck. They were looking more at babies, but their son Phillip wouldn't have it. At ten years old, he was intelligent and had formed much distaste at the idea of having a baby around. He'd come up to her, she was wearing the worn down jumper the orphanage had left for girls of her size, and asked her what country she was from. This might have offended someone, but not four year old Cassie. She'd gotten it so much, and he was nice about it. "I don't know." she said, looking down. "My hair is too dark...and my face.." she had been teased often, a contrast from the other children and their pale complexions. She shook her head. "No, No. Move on." she said, not realizing she was imitating what most people said when another in their party was staring. He shook his head, and called for his parents. "I don't want a baby in the house. They're stupid. She seems okay." He said, pointing a finger at her. Cassie didn't remember the most of it, but she was sent off with the family, the small doll she'd had since she'd been left there clutched in her small hand. After hours of being in the car, she woke up, noticing that she had fallen asleep on her new "big brother" who was smiling at her. "You sleep a lot." he said with a grin. And that was when she began her new life. She had a family. She had a brother. It was probably the happiest moment in her whole life.
