ROLEPLAY SAMPLE
Cassandra darted down the corridor, keeping to the shadows. She knew that no one who would squeal on her would be out at this hour, but she wanted to be cautious anyways.
The courtyard was empty, but she knew there was more than meets the eye. She could hear the whispers now. Cass pulled her green and grey scarf over her mouth so the frost from her breath wouldn’t be seen. She crouched, and as quietly as she could, crab walked over to the low bush that concealed the people there.
“I still don’t understand what you’re asking me to do.” It was Molly. Cass’s heart skittered around in her chest. As much as she acted like she hated her sister, she was still blood.
“You know what I want.” Cass didn’t recognize the voice and if she moved to peek she risked exposure. She knew that kids had been sneaking back here for over a week now, she just didn’t know who or why.
“Look,” Cass shivered from the harsh note in Molly’s voice. Oh yeah, they’re related. “I’m not going to do that, okay? That’s way beyond cruel and I don’t care if you think she deserves it or not.” Now it was getting interesting.
“Molly, she’s awful. We just need to take her down a few pegs, that’s all. Show her that she’s not the goddess of this school.” There was a shuffling noise and Cass pressed herself into the bush, afraid Molly would storm away and see her.
“I’m not doing it. Get someone else. She’s my sister’s best friend; I’ve known her for years. That’s just not cool with me.” So it was about Kyndrick.
“Look, she uses and abuses and dumps guys left and right. Your sister isn’t innocent either.”
“Don’t even start.” Footsteps came close to where Cass was hiding and she held her breath.
“How do you live with her, Molly? She treats you like dirt and you take it.”
“This conversation is over.” Molly’s light, sharp footsteps on the cobblestone were stopped abruptly and Cass could just make out the guys hand gripping her arm.
“It’s over when I say it is.” He held firm, even when she tried to squirm away from him.
Enough was enough. Cass jumped out of the bush and knocked the guy sideways. He stumbled back a few steps and Cass could see the Hufflepuff cloths. He looked like any other guy Kyndrick dated, did, and dumped.
“You should really watch what you do to my baby sister. I have ways of finding out what’s going on.”
He straightened himself up before looking at her. “We were only talking.”
“Don’t lie to me. She ended the conversation then you attacked her.” Cass raised her wand. “So that means everything I do to you now is to protect her. At least, that’s what I’ll tell the Headmaster, and anyone else who comes asking question.”
“Cass,” Molly put her hand on her sister’s arm. “Leave it alone. He’s not worth your time.”
“I can handle myself against her. Molly. She’s only a selfish bitch.” His mouth twitched into a small smile. “Looks pretty easy to me.”
Cass flicked her hand only once and a jet of intense red light shot out of the tip of her wand and hit the boy in the chest. There was a sickening crack as his head hit the wall behind him. Cass felt the rush, that elation that came with harming people. Her insides churned with the pleasure, it was almost as good as sex.
She pointed her wand at him again.
“Cass, that’s enough.” Molly’s voice seemed so distant, it practically echoed. “He won’t remember a thing, and if he does,” Cass pried her eyes away from his face, the blank expression reminded her so much of a corpse. “I’ll say it was self-defense.”
“I thought I taught you never to take that from guys.”
“You hardly talk to me in public, like I’m supposed to listen to you when you do speak to me?”
“I have your best interests at heart. Besides,” Cass sniffed the air. “He smells like a Mudblood.”
