I don't have the slightest clue what you mean. I mean, I'm just having one of those days where I'm not so cheery. It's probably just sleep deprivation or something like that...that's totally it...
...would you believe it if you said I'm upset about the impending trip to potions class? Slughorn hates me, and I'm not you.

I've woken three times this week to you tossing and turning. And things have only been getting worse since the midnight match. But I feel like you're not telling me all of it. Which, I suppose, you don't have to. Just know that I'm here if you want to talk.
Also, Slughorn doesn't hate you. He just thinks you don't apply yourself. And he's kind of right Ali. You've been spacing out soooo much lately.

Lily,
I try my hardest....well, not lately. But you know it doesn't make a difference. A mediocre mark is a mediocre mark, and I'm mediocre at best when it comes to potions.
I just...I've got a lot to think about. I mean. Mistakes I've made and all that. Don't want to worry you. I know, I know. You're my best friend, but I don't think it's worth bugging you about...

Ali, aside from a slightly less than perfect mark in potions that I could easily tutor you into raising, you've always been brilliant at coursework! Don't beat yourself down. You've got to give yourself a bit more credit.
