To me, it seems like there are two types of adventurous souls. There’s the Ravenclaw who seeks out something because they know it will offer them more knowledge. This type of person has this thirst for what they’re looking for. And then, there’s the Gryffindor. The thing about a Gryffindor adventure is that it doesn’t need as much reasoning. A Gryffindor can do something just because they think it will be fun or because they’re genuinely curious. A Gryffindor can dive into something with a sense of bravery and laughter. They do things because they mean it. They carry their souls on their sleeves and offer no shame for this presentation.
This is entirely the case with Henry Rayne. He grew up in a home full of Ravenclaws. He’s the middle of 3 brothers and he’s the only Gryffindor. While his brothers enjoyed sitting indoors reading and studying, Henry was outside chasing butterflies. He’s always had this calming, serene sort of nature to him. He looks a little bit rough at times and this is the most misleading thing about Henry. He’s such a sweetheart, I’m not sure he could really fight even if he wanted to.
The best word to describe Henry is bashful. He will actually blush if he feels embarrassed and he doesn’t mind being in the background of things. Since his first year, he’s known that he’s not a spotlight kind of guy. While people teamed up and made their friendships stick, Henry didn’t mind only having casual acquaintances. It wasn’t until his third year that he became very close friends with Kavic Elliot because they shared the fact that they weren’t loudmouths and crazy Gryffindors. Of course, they knew people like James Potter and Frank Longbottom. They shared meals with them, slept in the same dorm. But Henry only really stuck with Kavic, knowing it was the safest choice.
The place that Henry feels safest, most at home, is in the outdoors. He’s been known to go out onto the grounds on weekends and sleep in a little muggle tent there. That’s another thing about Henry. Despite being pureblood, he has an interest and appreciation for muggle things. He likes the simplicity of it all. He likes to do things the hard way. That’s part of who he is.
Henry has had this massive crush on Koran Elliot since he first spent time around her in his fourth year. It’s such a blatant little crush that anyone with eyes could see it, but Henry can’t seem to scrounge up the courage to ask her out.
