In the days when there was land, before the flooding happened and the sea had become the prominent feature of the world, there were ten deities. Each deity represented certain parts of life. Most importantly were the four deities of the major elements. Cymopoleia, the goddess of sea, Apollo the god of sun and fire, Enlil the god of air and storms, and Gaia the goddess of earth; all four of them were siblings.
But even siblings have fights, and when gods fight they have wars. Cymopoleia was always easily angered, and had fallen in love with Eros the god of love and desire. Gaia too had feelings for him and he her, they ended up sharing a night together and Cymopoleia found out. Fury was the outcome and she took it out on her sister. Now the siblings never got involved with each others disputes, and so her other family did nothing to help the earth deity.
The war they had went on for decades. It shook the land and seas and tore at the human population. Until finally everything stopped, Gaia lay destroyed, her body shredded apart and dissipating at her sister’s hand. Her sister felt no glory, only grim satisfaction and soon to be horror as the world would soon change. The land slowly began to become swallowed up as the oceans and seas took over them. It took a period of twenty years before the entire world was soon just sea. The people that survived the deities’ war took to their boats and slowly made floating cities.
It is forty years after the change of the earth and some humans have started to evolve. They are not accepted into society very easily though, it takes a lot for them to be seen even as normal. But they have adapted to the environment, growing gills or fins or sometimes even scales. They are the future; the others just won’t accept it.
The Evolution has begun.
