Dear Kyndrick, Hope everything’s going well at school. I hope you’re doing well in your classes and have been studying for your N.E.W.T. exams. I’m writing to inform you that I’ve received a few reports from your professors. They’re concerned you’re more focused on your social life than on your coursework. I hope they’re wrong. This is your last year of school and you should know better than to slack off when you’re nearly at the end of everything. I also have news for you. I’ve been seeing a woman recently. Her name is Charlene Everling and she’s quite the amazement to me. She’s not your mum, but things have been getting fairly serious. I thought to keep you informed. You’ll be meeting her when you come home for your winter holidays. Hope to hear from you soon and keep on top of your studies, please. Love, Your father
Kyndrick read the letter through three times before actually managing to really process the words seriously. She thought it was a joke. Her father was sitting around caring about her studies and shagging some woman named Charlene! That was completely and utterly ridiculous! Kyndrick felt kind of sick thinking about it. She was expected to come home during holidays and meet this woman? That agitated her on an entirely new level.
Kyn crumbled the letter up in a ball and threw it across the dorm so it hit the wall opposite her. She watched it bounce back and roll somewhere under her bed. She shrugged and leaned over to her bed-side table drawer where she pulled out a box of cigarettes and a lighter. She pulled one out and lit up and then took a long drag from the little stick of cancer inducing death. She set the box and lighter on the table and then reached back into the drawer for the half-empty bottle of wine she’d left there the night before. She uncorked the thing and took a long gulp between drags. That was how Kyn liked things, risky and messy. She knew exactly how she needed to react to her father’s letter. She needed to rebel and piss him off further.
So, Kyn let herself get sloppy drunk and then stood up and gave herself a good long look in the full length mirror she and the other 7th year Ravenclaw girls shared. She looked much too thin and wore only a lacy looking nightdress with a pair of gray knee-high socks she wore with her school uniform. Her hair was a pulled back in a messy sort of braid and she still had some smudged makeup around her eyes. She put out her cigarette and looked at the other girls in the room. It was only about 10 o’clock but most of them were sleeping. Anyone awake would be in the common room. The other girls were getting good nights of sleep so they’d be able to focus in class. That was something Kyndrick really didn’t give a damn about.
She tiptoed on over to her trunk and pulled out a silky looking robe. She tugged it on and then plunged her arms back in to find a flask of whiskey. Her last addition was a pair of little ballet shoes she liked to pretend were slippers. She had actually taken several years of ballet lessons. It was something her mother had thought was good for her as a child and she’s enjoyed. That wasn’t the point though. No, Kyndrick was on a mission.
She headed straight out of the dormitory and into the common room with her wand in one robe pocket and her flask in the other along with her cigarettes and lighter. She offered only a sweet little Kyndrick Laurent grin in answer to any questioning looks her classmates gave her. They were used to her wandering off, just not usually in her night clothes. She thought one 5th year boy might have a heart-attack at the sight of her looking soooo scandalous. She giggled as she made her way out of the Racenvlaw common room and through the empty corridors. Only the Prefects would be wandering right then.
Kyndrick had a plan that would leave a print on people around this school. She wanted to be caught and told off for what she’d done so she could casually remind her father that he had zero pull in her life. She needed to do something both harmless and outrageous. It had to be something ridiculous, but not to the point that she’d actually get kicked out of school. So, Kyn headed toward Headmaster Dumbledore’s office on the seventh floor. She was going to find a way to sneak in so she could steal his underpants. Yes, that’s what she’d do! She’d show them all just how great she was! She’d steal the headmaster’s knickers and no one would ever say she was a follower of her father’s advice! That’s it! That was the plan!
So, Kyn took a long gulp from her flask and sauntered down the seventh floor corridor. She was on top of the world! This night was her’s! Nothing could ruin it! Nothing at all! Except for maybe one thing! In all her high-life giddy sauntering, Kyndrick hadn’t realized she’d not checked for Prefects coming around the corner. With a sputtering splash, she ran directly into Remus Lupin and accidentally spit whiskey down his front. She didn’t know what to say. Perhaps, if sober, she’d have said something like, ”I’m so sorry!” But she wasn’t! She was drunk. So, she instead simply broke out laughing like some sort of deranged idiot. She took a step forward and planted a kiss on Remus’s cheek. ”’Ello love.” Kyndrick murmured in his ear. It wasn’t so seductive as it was silly. She was like a large, dainty, scantily dressed five-year-old and there happened to be everything wrong with that. It didn’t seem like Remus Lupin had any objections to that wrongness right then though.

Ah, prefect duty. Of all the boring ways to spend a night, this was probably the winner of them all. Nothing ever happened during prefect duty. Walking around, pacing back and forth in your designated “placement” for a few hours, making sure no one came. It was a waste of time! No one ever did come. Rarely, Remus would hear footsteps or something of that sort, but they usually quiet, distant, and they’d stop long before Remus could turn to see who they were coming from. Naturally, whoever’s footsteps those would have been were probably belonging to someone who’d seen his back turned, and had run into the opposite direction knowing there was a prefect on duty. Furthermore, everyone knew where prefects patrolled. You had to be a real newbie at sneaking out after curfew, or a first year to not already know the areas which were on constant patrol. It was easy to avoid them if you knew how. Heck, James and Sirius never had a problem with finding that stupid schedule, and now they could just use the map. He supposed, these prefect duties were probably just made to give prefects another job around the school for no other reason. Plus, it probably scared off most first year students from wandering the halls at night.
But really, was there anything to fear from walking around at night? Remus didn’t think so. Well. As long as it wasn’t a full moon, and everyone was inside, there really shouldn’t be anything to be too worried about. Dumbledore probably just wanted everyone to get a good sleep, which is why he set up these rules. Remus pondered this as he paced, back and forth, back and forth, the seventh floor corridor. His arms were crossed behind his back. He supposed, if he didn’t have prefect duty, he probably wouldn’t have been sleeping anyway. At least here, he had some sort of “purpose” or whatever instead of vacantly staring out the window and pretending he was only staying awake to finish his homework like most nights. He’d already finished his homework anyway. He wasn’t a procrastinator like James and Sirius. He – wait. Footsteps broke his train of thought. There was someone coming. But they weren’t stopping and turning away like usual. This person either didn’t see him, or was a professor telling him to get off for the night. But it couldn’t be a professor at this hour, he had barely even started his shift. Remus turned just in time for the person to run straight into him, a wave of hair blocking his sight and a cold, wet liquid spilling down his front. Everything suddenly reeked of alcohol.
He took a step back, trying to untangle himself and this creature, person, and liquid away from him. He was barely coming to grasps with what had just happened. But the laugh gave it away. It wasn’t just anyone running into him and spilling alcohol down his shirt, it was Kyndrick Laurent. His heart skipped a beat. Actually, it skipped a few beats. Saying his heart tumbled down a few sets of stairs and slammed into a brick wall was probably the most accurate description.
She was barely dressed by the looks of it, a robe? Some socks and slippers? She looked like she was better prepared for sleep than a night out. Maybe she was sleep-walking. That might have been believable if she wasn’t carrying a bottle of whiskey. But Remus just wanted to see the best in people. She was alone, and she was beautiful. But Kyndrick was such a mystery sometimes, and Remus didn’t understand her. He could only ever dream of understanding.
Her lips were suddenly wet on his cheek, and her breath at his ear. She was moving so fast in the middle of such a slow night. A firecracker. Where was she even going? What was she doing here? His mind seemed to be in a buzz. His eyes were staring wildly at her, his mouth hanging open. His face a clear indication of absolute shock. He pushed his lips back together, attempting to compose himself. ”Merlin, Kyndrick! Wha-wher- what are you doing here?” he replied, and then trying to keep his voice down. They were past curfew after all… and he was a prefect. He was supposed to be patrolling these sort of things right? Ah, everything was coming back to him now. ”You – you shouldn’t be here – it’s way past curfew, and you're drunk” he attempted to say in a hush. He feared he didn’t sound that convincing though. She could probably look straight into his eyes and know he was still thinking about her voice in his ear and those lips on his cheek. He wasn’t going to fool anyone, least of all Kyndrick.

Kyndrick couldn’t stop herself from giggling. She could practically see the blush coming off his cheeks despite no actual blush appearing. ”What am I doing? Remus, must you even ask? I’m here on a grand and epic journey! I am here on this night, above all other nights, to do something amazing and memorable and simply… Cool. I’m doing something very cool. Something so cool, in fact, that your James and Sirius don’t have a thing on me! And you, you should join me! Oh, you should definitely join me!” Kyndrick was caught up in a craze of determined and lost excitement. She completely ignored his remarks about curfew and her drunkenness. Neither of those things had ever made any impact on her before!
”K, so here’s what’s happening. I, Kyndrick Laurent the fabulous, am going to sneak my way in and steal Headmaster Fancy Pants Dumbledore’s underpants! And youuuuu, Sir Remus Lupin the valiant and forgiving of all Prefects at this fine institution of knowledge obtaining, shall come along with me and go down in underpants thieving history!” Kyndrick was speaking much too loud for anyone not up to trouble. She expected Remus to clap a hand over her mouth at any moment to get her to shut up. And, as if in preparation for needing to persuade this fine gentlemen into rebellion along with her, Kyndrick decided to use her usual way with the opposite gender. She made sure she was standing much too close to him and made sure she had a hand on his shoulder at all times. The other hand seemed to be flailing about a bit as she described this vivid explanation to him.
”Come on then! It will be some you and me time! I’ve spent more than enough time with James and Sirius and even Peter on one sad occasion. You though! You and I need our fill of adventure and this seems more opportune than any other chance in the very near future. I’ll even share my whiskey if it fits your fancy. I am a very giving girl!” Kyndrick said with a wink. She had moved her hands and was now sort of clutching at the collar of his school robes gently. Kyndrick moved to brush away some of the alcohol she’d spit down his front as though it had just occurred to her how rude she had been.
”Oh dear, that’s a mess, isn’t it? If I had a handkerchief, I would offer it to you like a true lady!” Kyn said with a tiny snort of laughter. There could not possibly be anything less ladylike than a snort of laughter. How much wine had been in that bottle earlier? How much whiskey had she managed to gulp down on her way through the school? Kyndrick didn’t quite have the memory to recall any numbers right then. She had her eyes fixed on the face of the very attractive 6th year Gryffindor boy in front of her. Some part of her really quite wanted him along for this, and not just because she didn’t want to get in trouble with him as a Prefect.

Grand and epic journey? ”ah, of course you are” he said in complete calm. The sides of his lips turned up in a slight smile, he couldn’t help it. He was humoured. This was Kyndrick Laurent, the girl was always up to something, and she wasn’t being very specific about any of it actually. Something awesome, something cool, interesting. Wasn’t it always? Adventures blossomed in Kyndrick’s path no matter where she turned. She was like James and Sirius in that way actually. Impulsive. Whereas Remus was the worrier. He liked plans, and he liked sticking to them. He thought out things before he did them, the impact on these actions and the consequences and results of what could happen and what would happen. And then he’d think the action over again. Double check. Remus didn’t suppose he’d ever had a moment to completely lose himself or to just react. He didn’t ever let himself get to a point like that. But then again, didn’t he do that enough when he transformed every month? Remus didn’t particularly like losing control of who he was. So even with the rest of the marauders, James and Sirius in all their immaturity, well they sure weren’t the greatest at thinking before acting, and Remus could admit he’d allowed himself to do many things with them that he regretted later, simply because he wanted to join the fun. But one could note that he also put his foot down for a lot of things too, stopped them, or at least tried, from carrying through with their worst ideas. Remus was sort of that older brother figure in the case of that relationship, even though he couldn’t really stop James and Sirius nearly as often as he should, being a prefect and all. He supposed Dumbledore only placed him with the position because he thought Remus had some influence in his friend’s escapades.
Still. He rather liked Kyndrick, and that would be an understatement to keep say it was just that. Something about Kyndrick pulled him in. Even now, when she was half dressed for bed and already drunk, she was still pulling him in, her eyes bright in excitement. But he was the one on duty here, he’d be the one to get his head on the block, and Dumbledore had already done so much for him. The more she talked though, the more his eyes widened. He shook his head. he wasn’t going to allow it – did she just call him valiant? – He was briefly distracted from saying no as she ”Underpants? What do you want underpants for?” Especially Dumbledore’s. He couldn’t let her do this though, no matter the hilarity that would surely come from it. He interrupted her in a hush even as she was still speaking, explaining her so called “brilliant” scheme. ”I – I can’t allow that. I’m- no Kyndrick.” he objected shaking his head. His face was going red even as he said it. He was probably letting her down, not wanting to join in on her fun, but really, what else could he say? James would have gone along with it. But Remus? Remus had to be level-headed.
”absolutely not, Kyndrick shhhh you’re really too loud, someone is going to hear” he hissed under his breath. He put a finger to her lips quickly, her voice seeming to go louder. He looked back around the corridor nervously, as if expecting McGonagall to be sweeping her way towards them. It was exactly a second after he’d laid his finger over her lips that he realized he was still touching her and he slipped his hand back to his sides. She seemed to be coming closer now though.
His cheeks flushed a scarlett red at her touch, her fingers at his collar, her arms practically wrapping around his very neck. His eyes were wandering towards her mouth now, and he found it hard to fully remember what she was talking about, what she was trying to convince him of. Her lips were rather nice. Why was she standing so close. His eyes seemed to focus back onto hers when she said she’d spent time with even Peter. Really? When? Peter had never informed Remus of that. Sure, Sirius and James, but Peter? ”fulfilling the adventure of stealing underpants?” he chirped up sarcastically, his eyebrow raising at her. He took a breath, he had to say no to her, he had to. “I don’t think so – I don’t even drink and we could get in a lot of trouble Kyn, can I just take you back to your room?” he murmured quietly, a sort of plead.
he caught her hands from continuing to try to brush off a liquid that had already half-dried onto his uniform. It was a bit late now anyway. He stepped back as he did, it was easier to think when her lips were not so close. ”- its fine really” he said quietly. He paused, wondering if he should even pose the question, if she might think he was contemplating the idea if he did. Well..was he? ”How do you even expect to do this?” he added, asking anyway and raising his eyebrow at her. He couldn’t help but be curious.

It was as though Remus was speaking his words and Kyndrick was plucking out the ones she liked and leaving the rest behind. She couldn’t stop smiling. She loved how nervous he was getting. Here she was, as drunk and free-spirited as ever, and she had only the attention span to appreciate his awkwardness. Kyndrick let out another childlike giggle. ”What do I need underpants for? To put on my head! To turn into a slingshot! The possibilities are endless Remus!” Kyndrick laughed.
”Someone’s going to hear?” Kyndrick said in a suddenly loud and overly dramatized whisper. She felt his finger at her lips and a slight rush came over her. It was the kind of feeling someone got when they’re about to drop on a roller coaster or just after they’ve leapt to dive into water. Kyndrick liked it. It was the kind of rush she could get addicted to. Why couldn’t everyone’s touch be like that?
”Don’t even drink? Oh, there’s a first for everything. I’m an expert at drinking. I could teach you.” Kyndrick said and, as if on cue, she hiccupped. ”Oh my Remus! Take me back to my room? But we haven’t even stolen underpants yet! We can’t go running off to my room without underpants!” Kyndrick was purposefully being overly sexual that time. She couldn’t stop her own giggling. It was becoming her new trademark. She secretly wished there was a bucket of water she could dunk her head in, then maybe she’d stop giggling!
And then, he asked the magic question. It was a hook. Kyndrick stared into his blushing face and her giggles ceased. She gave him a very serious look and then let the corners of her lips turn into a devious smile. ”Oh, I am so glad you asked. We’re just gonna go strolling in Remus my love! We’re gonna go right in and go to his underwear drawer and take out the biggest pair we can find! I bet he won’t even notice they’re missing. Our headmaster is a verrrrry busy man Remus.” Kyndrick nodded wisely for dramatic effect. She needed more than that to get him to play her game. Maybe that made it more fun though.
”I know you’re scared. I know you’d rather do your Prefect duties and pretend I wasn’t here. But you only live once Remus. Don’t miss out. Plus, what’s one night in the grand scheme of things? What’s one night spent with a very lovely, very drunk girl who’s a year older than you and completely interested in you?” Kyndrick murmured. She wondered where she was getting these words. Maybe she had accidentally drank some kind of magical wine that made her say all the right words. Where was that wine when she needed to do any type of oral exam? No, she always had hangovers for exams, not magical wine!
Kyndrick knew she was obviously having some kind of effect on him. She felt her smile turn to this sort of sweet expression she wore as a child. She stood up slightly, just barely on her tip toes and leaned in to plant the gentlest of all kisses on Remus Lupin’s unprepared lips. She didn’t want him to react, she wanted him to go along with her. So, after her kiss was gifted upon him, she took his hand in hers. She clasped it with a kind of frail, soft touch and she tugged slightly. He was coming with her and they were stealing underpants and it was going to be amazing!

remus bit his lip back to stop himself from laughing at her reply as to why she would need dumbledore’s underpants. he couldn’t hide his humor. he supposed it was her drunkness that made her so eager to do something so… stupid really. but was it bad that he found it sort of funny either way. he couldn’t help but let this idea play along in his head, the laughs they’d have. he saw it happening. he wanted to do this, but really he shouldn’t. she clearly wasn’t thinking straight, that smile of hers revealed as much at least. would remus be a fool to let her get the best of him? unfortunately and probably against his best judgements there was a good chance that he would. kyndrick had an odd effect on him, and it wasn’t just because he’d been boring a pathetic little crush on the girl for over a year know. she just left him … weak really. there were so many reasons he shouldn’t let her talk him into this plan, so many possibilities for getting into so much trouble. but no matter what his argument was, he’d always have that little voice getting louder and louder shouting out but this is kyndrick laurent, it’s kyndrick and you know she’d do anything for her. as strange as it was, this was the first time kyndrick had asked him for something. of all the people to choose to join her she wanted him there, and remus wasn’t going to bother to think about whether or not this was a coincidence or whether it was intentional. kyndrick wanted this from him, how could he refuse her?
”yes – mcgonagall if you’re not careful. you’re being sort of loud” his tone was almost apologetic, and he took this moment to crane his head back up and down the corridor. he couldn’t see nor hear anyone, but just to be sure. he really didn’t want kyndrick to get caught in this condition. it was lucky that it was remus kyndrick had bumped into tonight. unless of course, that was intentional (which remus dared to hope it was). remus raised his eyebrows at her expressively, actually letting out the laugh he’d been holding back now. ”i think you’ve had enough for both of us kyndrick” he pointed out, shaking his head. he blushed again at her next, not so subtle comments about underpants. red in the face again, he stammered. ”it just sounds like a bad idea to me…” he insisted again, but his voice was wavering. alright, alright, maybe he’d go with her, trying to talk her out of this as he did, but he wasn’t going to be drinking. one of them needed to have a level head.
” we can’t just go strolling in! are you insane, what if he’s in there sleeping??” he questioned. this made his stomach flip. if this was really her plan the remus knew for sure that he would need to go with her. this reason wasn’t going to be a selfish one. he needed to go to make sure she didn’t get herself expelled. he seemed to sort of stare at her as she continued, her words were hitting home, straight on the centre of the dart board, even if she might not be able to see it. remus knew he ought to be more outgoing sometimes, obviously it was apparent to everyone else as well. he hadn’t realized that. his eyes almost bulged out when she admitted that she was interested in him. how was that even possible? he really hoped she couldn’t see in this dark how red his face was getting at this point. his eyebrows came together in confusion and he opened his mouth to reply but couldn’t find the words. how could he honestly say that he had been more than just interested in her for the past year now? this was just one of those moments that he’d thought about happening over and over, but never something that seemed possible, never real. this seemed real, but he remembered then, and his eyes hardened, the embarrassing hope evaporating. he really was just stupid and naïve wasn’t he? ”you’re just drunk kyndrick” he pointed out, shaking his head at her.
something exploded within him. . he had definitely not been expecting that last, gracious little offer she had just planted on his lips. the nerves, the anxiety, all of it. every cell in his body seemed to jump out of his skin and towards his lips. a ten pound weight was pounding in his stomach faster than he could ever think possible. he reacted, kissed her back, whether she had expected it or not. it was short, he couldn’t help mourning that. bloody hell, how did she do these things to him? why did she make him feel so much, so fast, and all at once. it was inhuman. it was cruel! he couldn’t keep up with her silly games. he couldn’t imagine what the motives or consequences were, and if remus had been hoping to be the one with a clear head this was no longer relevant. without even drinking a sip of that alcohol he was suddenly completely wasted staring back at her. still dumbfounded, he let her take his hand, let her lead them to their most definite expulsion. he shouldn’t think about this much, kyndrick probably did this to all the guys she wanted something from. and he knew he probably shouldn’t look to into it, he had to ask. ”i – what was that? just there?”
then he formulated a plan, slowly dropping the dumbfounded look off his face and off the radar. "look if we do this, we're going to have to be careful" he insisted. but the words were enough. he let her win this one.

Kyndrick couldn’t help but wear a triumphant sort of look on her serenely drunken features. She’d won him over! It was like winning a quidditch match! Kyn was elated. They were going to steal the headmaster’s undergarments and now she had a Prefect on her side!!! Oh, this was history-making stuff as far as Kyn knew. She would let this story spread like wild fire later on. And maybe she’d keep him around as well. Kyndrick liked the way Remus reacted to things. She could get used to it. But, that was all for later. Now was when things could get interesting. One didn’t just say they were stealing the headmaster’s underpants. One had to actually go and do to make it worthwhile.
Kyndrick had his hand tight in hers as if she were tugging him down into a casual pit of despair or some other hellish scenario. She was practically skipping down the hallway. Given, it was a staggering sort of skip. She was rather disoriented. Kyn felt a jittery buzzing in her head and her heart. Everything felt so…. Alive. Kyndrick felt more alive than she had in weeks, maybe months. Perhaps it was the thrill of the moment. Or, possibly, that electric current passing between her hand and Remus Lupins. Kyndrick was a very touchy-feely kind of girl. She was used to having her hands and other various parts all over other people. But she wasn’t used to feeling so conscious of that fact. And certainly not while drunk! This was new to her, entirely new. This was strange and lovely and she wanted to stop and kiss him again just to see if the two of them would magically explode in the middle of the corridor, but something inside her suggested not doing so. Something within wanted to finish her task. They were on a mission and she was determined. The house of Gryffindor had nothing on Kyndrick Laurent right then. She was just as brave and daring as the whole damn lot of them!
And then, she came to a knowing and yet absent-minded halt. They were there. They were right in front of that ridiculous gargoyle statue and Remus had been on and on about something or other or being shocked by her kissing him or something. Kyndrick had already forgotten his words and was now entranced. She looked almost studious as she stared up at the statue. Her eyes going slightly cross-eyed and her face making ridiculous and irrelevant expressions. Her drinking really did make her look stupid, didn’t it?
”I hope he’s sleeping.” Kyndrick declared with a silly little grin. ”And then we can find out if the headmaster snores!” Kyndrick was childish and giddy. It was all very clear, how serious she was taking this. ”So, you’re an almighty, all-knowing Prefect. And I know you’re smart, I’ve heard good things…” Kyndrick was rambling. She nodded and her eye-brows danced on that last bit, insinuating God only knows what. ”So, what’s the password?” She asked him, her eyes alight with interest and excitement.

he went willingly. granted, he still had a dumbfounded look on his face, something that his mum would have been sure to tell him “would stay that way forever”. he had too many thoughts going through his mind and his heart was beating so unnecessarily fast that his position as prefect was almost forgotten completely. almost being the key word here. of course he felt that twinge of guilt for abandoning his position, and he sure as hell felt that twinge of fear of getting caught, but really, in comparison to the titanic-sized bucket of nerves kyndrick was giving him, the fear and guilt didn’t have much of a say. was it just him and his hopeful state that could feel that? between her hand and his. oh he was going to start to sweat, how embarrassing. get it together remus! it’s just a girl! he told himself. she isn’t a different species for merlin’s sake!” but remus knew what a lie that was. kyndrick Laurent couldn’t possibly be of the same species as him. she moved in her own way. she needed but to walk into a room to gather the room’s attention. there was something magical in the way that kyndrick held herself and she didn’t need to carry a wand to make it appear so. so, human you say? no. definitely not. if kyndrick was merely a human than remus must surely be a toad.
kyndrick wouldn’t make anything of that single kiss while remus would naturally find it haunting. she kissed boys to make them do what she wanted, and remus was all too willing to do just that. james and sirius made fun of him for it, his weakness around kyndrick. they thought he was sort of a wuss fir it. likewise, remus did the same to james with lily. that was just the way they were. he supposed he’d prove them wrong now wouldn’t he? or right, depending on how this night would end up. he was almost positive kyndrick knew of his crush though, at this point anyway. wasn’t it obvious by the way that he looked at her? mostly everyone else seemed to know from just the look on his face if he was ever asked about kyndrick, or if he was even in the same room as the girl. surely, she knew by now? the problem was that remus was always a tad awkward, shy around girls that he liked. it would be harder for him to say it out loud. he wasn’t even sure if he’d want her to know, call it the fear of being rejected? he supposed, he’d like for her to know, but only if she felt the same (which was unlikely, despite her so called confession earlier). if he ever told kyndrick how he actually felt, he might need to be a, feeling very impulsive, b, dying, or c, drunk. or all three, or a combination of two. remus had had a relationship in the past but it hadn’t left him as the most experienced guy around.
kyndrick and remus stopped in front of the gargoyles, the entrance to dumbledore’s office. he tried not to chuckle at her expression but let out a laugh anyway. she was thoughtful, but in that lopsided-drunken way, many of her expressions didn’t make much sense in the context they were in. he released her hand, watching her in amusement. ”I bet he does, I think it’s an old man thing” he added about the headmaster snoring. he grinned.
naturally, just as the red was leaving his face she’d compliment him again. thankfully just a tingle this time. he might have to start getting used to it after all or he’d be a tomato all night. he shook his head, biting his lip back and letting out a bit of a chuckle. ”me? no way. I’ve never pretended to know everything and I definitely don’t know the password!” he said a bit shocked. ”I thought this was your plan, shouldn’t you have found out the password before? I mean, you’re the ravenclaw after all. you’re the one who’s supposed to be all knowing here” he added. he casually walked up to the gargoyle thoughtfully before turning back to her with a grin again. remus put his hands in his robes with a timid shrug. this was great. they couldn’t get inside. then he could finally just take her back to her dorm, and no more trouble for either of them! remus was pleased that they couldn’t get inside, this was obvious.

Remus didn’t know the password! This had come as a genuine shock to Kyndrick! Her eyes grew wide and her mouth dropped open a little. He really didn’t know! And she hadn’t exactly thought her plan through. She only knew what she wanted and that she was always willing to chase after the things she wanted in life. And he was rambling away, saying all this nonsense about her being smart because she was Ravenclaw. No one ever called Kyndrick smart. She was usually tossed in with the slightly less intelligent lot of people like Grace Davies or sometimes Mar Mckinnon. No one thought Kyndrick was smart, ever. But something about Remus and his joke struck her slightly. Maybe he didn’t assume things. Maybe part of him did think she was smart. However small that part may be, Kyndrick only took more and more liking to Remus.
”Hush, hush, hush.” Kyn murmured deviously right then. She put a finger to his lips to get him to stop. ”Now, Remus, don’t be so cross about this just because you don’t have the password. It’s alright. It’s all your fault. Now, if there’s one thing I’ve learned in the past, it’s that good things come to those who wait.” She was overly cheerful and her voice, although considerably quieter than it had been earlier, was still rather loud. And her sense were slow and stupid and intoxicated. And, as if on cue, she heard clattering footsteps and the statue was beginning to turn slowly. Kyn’s eyes grew even wider and she grabbed Remus by the arm, tugging at him very hard and pushing him behind a suit of armor. She could barely hide herself as well when a man appeared from the gargoyle statue.
It was Professor Port. And he looked annoyed. He was walking very quickly down the hall and Kyndrick knew this had to be their golden moment. This was the chance of a life time. This was it! So, still holding Remus Lupin’s arm in a claw-like grasp, Kyn dragged him to the passage and stepped onto the steps which seemed to moving steadily upward like some kind of escalator. The whole shock and adrenaline hadn’t even begun to phase her. Apparently, this was their lucky night! This was the golden night in which Kyndrick Laurent and Remus Lupin would make history! She was still drunk as hell, but God obviously wanted this to happen. This was destiny, this was!
Once the stairs came to a halt at the top, Kyndrick found a note taped to the front of the door. It was from Professor Port, she was certain. And the door was slightly cracked open, the lights out. She turned round to Remus with an overly thrilled grin and had to make an effort not to giggle with glee. In her very best, most quiet whisper, she said, ”This is it. This is happening.” And happening, it was.

she really ought to stop grinning like that way, so devious. it was throwing him off. why was she so.. so… unpredictable? he frowned then, laughing again. ”my fault?! this was your plan that you didn’t plan out properly!” he argued back. unlike kyndrick, he was in a much better mood knowing there was no way they could get inside the headmaster’s study. he grinned widely at her. he’ll wait for her to exhaust her resources for a few minutes, let her admit her own defeat before making the suggestion to lead her back to her dorm. it would be easier if she admitted the impossibility of the situation instead of him, especially considering she could probably already figure from the look on his face that he was pleased. but then, as if on cue, there was the sound of footsteps and the statue was beginning to turn. remus’ big stupid grin faded silently as kyndrick grabbed him by the arm and pulled him behind a suit of armor. he was still trying to process the annoyingness of how soon that had appeared to crush his plans that he was about an inch away from slamming directly into the suit of arms. which, needless to say, would have been a very noisy disaster.
he hardly got a chance to see the professor that stepped out as well. ”wonder what professor port is doing in there looking so upset…” he whispered curiously out loud. he’d barely gotten the words out when kyndrick, still holding his hand, pulled on his arm and lead them running, into the headmaster’s study. the doors shut directly behind him and they climbed the stairs together, he turned as the statue closed the gateway behind them. he resigned, turning to look at her. the excitement in her eyes was contagious. he didn’t want to disappoint it, and besides, the adrenaline was kicking inside of him. he grinned at her. ”well, it isn’t like we can just go back now” he whispered back, pushing the door open, and with his hand still in hers, he stepped inside. the adrenaline was deafening. he should have known to take the marauder’s map with him tonight but he hadn’t bloody well been expecting this to be how his night went. but the only eerie part about being in the office was the fact that he wasn’t even sure if Dumbledore was there. he couldn’t see or hear him, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t there.
”are you sure you want his underpants, I don’t want to look through his underwear drawer. couldn’t a rubber duck suffice?” he whispered under his breath.
