The streets of Hogsmeade were crowded and noisy, as they usually were on weekday afternoons. Elysia pushed her way through the crowds, not stopping to apologize if she knocked someone over, or to window shop. She had more important things on her mind.
Ely stopped in front of Honeydukes and caught sight of her reflected in the store window. Her dark hair was up in a tight bun, her makeup was faint, and the unflattering dull grey robes made her look much paler than she already was. She sighed and wished she'd had time to change before coming into town. These were her work robes, and not exactly something she wanted Garrett, her childhood friend and love of her life, to see her in. Hastily, she pulled at the clip holding up her hair and let it fall onto her shoulders. Pleased that she didn't look as professional now, Ely stormed into the sweet shop.
It was less crowded inside. On the weekend the store would be packed with visiting students, but today was a Tuesday and there were only a few adults and very small children around. It was few enough people that Ely could see clearly from the doorway that Garrett hadn't arrived yet. She began browsing the store and eying the door every two seconds. It was just like him to show up unannounced in Hogsmeade after Merlin knew how long he'd been away, and then force her to fake an illness at work to come meet him. But he was going to get an earful if he thought he could stand her up after all that!
