amelia bones is not like the other girls her age. she's much more reserved and doesn't throw herself into the social scene like the others. she's calm and quiet and sweet. she loves animals and books. her friends mostly consist of the people she's met through prefect duties. she is sort of afraid to really open up to people. that's not all there is to her though. she is a real person beneath her layers of quiet shyness. she has two brothers who she is used to helping take care of, even though they're both in their teens now. her family is very close but she doesn't talk about them very often.

i'd love it if she had some friends through school. i also want a love interest for her. now, the thing with mel is, nothing is ever easy with her. she is pretty emotional and wants to be closed off. to her, it's easier to shut everyone out than possibly face the pain of losing them. she doesn't believe in teens falling in love so, the entire concept of having a relationship is a bit of a joke to her. she looks at those girls like lily evans and sort of frowns upon their actions. she doesn't go about things the same way as other girls. she doesn't walk down the corridors with lily evans' smart strut or kyndrick laurent's prissy prestige. mellie bones floats along behind the others, taking in the light that soaks in from the towering windows. she takes the time to talk to the portraits because she is more fond of them than her class mates. she gets to know her professors because she can't really relate to a lot of teens. she doesn't ever quite fit together in the puzzle that is her age group. that's her. that's amelia.

LANIE & MELLIE

I wanted to work on this friendship that they have because I love Dorcas and I really want to write her out more. I think that their friendship springs from the very obvious fact that they are same house and same year. And also, they kind of have the same type of personality at times. Only difference is, where Mellie has her school work and head girl duties, Lanie doesn't have any of that. And because of that, I can see Dorcas..by around fifth/sixth year..starting to grow up and out of that meek little girl personality. She makes friends with Marlene Mckinnon and joins the order at the same time as she does. I think this shows that Dorcas, though she is quite skeptical about people, proves herself as she grows older. She becomes a strong witch, she can stand up for herself, she can break away and make friends...where Mellie can't. This would be fun to roleplay out. For example, Lanie starts up an on and off relationship with Ludo...kind of for the same reason that he's always been there just like Mellie has. I can see their relationship, if Lanie wasn't killed and if Ludo hadn't betrayed the Order, forming into a marriage or something like that. They have this unique connection. And I think that Mellie would be jealous of that, in a way. Jealous maybe that Lanie, although she's still close friends with Mellie, has broken off and made other friends where Mellie can't. I'd be interested in roleplaying kind of a break down, where it's all out on the table that Mellie is upset, and Lanie hadn't even realized it. That sort of thing. And if you ever wanted to roleplay in the past, we could have plenty of wonderful best friend roleplays...slumber parties and what not.

Another thing, I realized this last night when you mentioned the Mycah/Dorcas connection with adoption. Lanie was never adopted...at least I don't think she would have been. So she had to go somewhere every summer holiday. Where would she go? To the home of Amelia Bones perhaps? It's just a thought, but this could be a strong thing between them, as well as a good tension starter if Dorcas suddenly plans to live in her own flat summer before seventh year, or heads to the Mckinnons for a summer, leaving Mellie. Their relationship has a lot of different avenues to go with.
